Review: Covergirl Full Lash Bloom

Hello everyone! I'm here with another exciting product that was kindly sent to me by Influenster for review.  The product is the new Covergirl Full Lash Bloom mascara! I've been trying this mascara out since the 1st of this month, I really wanted to get a good feel for it before I gave my thoughts on it!  Before I get to the review lets take a look at the claims this mascara gives!

The two major claims the Covergirl Full Lash Bloom gives are that it will give the look of fuller lashes and secondly that the lashes will stay soft to the touch.  I tested out the shade 800 very black, and although this particulary version is not waterproof it is supposed to be flake resistant.

Here is the complete list of claims this mascara gives as seen directly on the packaging:

The wand is plastic which is typically not my favorite, I tend to favor more traditional bristiles but I didn't find the wand hard to work with.  The formula is not too wet but it is definitaly not dry either, right in the middle.  When I first used this mascara it right off the bat reminded me of the Benefit They're Real mascara! The wand is very similar to that mascara, but the formula is not as wet as the Benefit They're Real mascara (which I prefer because wet mascaras tend to make a huge mess on my hooded eyes).

As I said before I have been testing this mascara since the beginning of the month, and through different conditions. I found that the Covergirl Full Lash Bloom did not smudge on me, it was amazing I love it for my lower lashes especially. The wand makes it super easy to coat your lower lashline without getting mascara everywhere!  It does not however give me tons of length, which it doesn't claim to do.  Volume wise though I could see a bit of a difference but not tons of volume either.  I still enjoy the formula and application, and especially loved how it didn't smudge! I am also a contact wearer and this did not cause any discomfort at all.  When my eyes did water (I have watery eyes naturally), I found that very little of the mascara budged and the bit that did came off very easily and didn't leave behind panda eyes!

Oveally I'm quite satisfied with the results this mascara gave me and would be intrigued in trying out more Covergirl mascara.  I usually stay away from Covergirl makeup, not quite sure why! I feel like I must be missing out on some really awesome products! I would agree with the claims this mascara made, it didn't leave my lashes feel 'crispy' at all, they did feel quite soft and I did not get any smudging while wearing this! I did have more volume, but this mascara is definitely more a natural look type than a 'I'm wearing falsies' type.

I completely forgot to take a picture of my eyelashes without mascara, but don't worry I will be updating this blog post with before and after pictures! For now here is my eyelashes with the mascara on!

Mani Monday #2

Today's shade also comes from the Modern Family collection within the Nicole by OPI nail polishes, this one is called Candid Cameron.

The shade is a beautiful iridescent teal color.  I only had to apply two coats to get this pigmentation.  To create my accent nail I applied a nail dress from KISS that I had leftover from my Influenster box.
Honestly, if I could do this over again I would leave off the accent nail.  The first time I used the nail dress it lasted a pretty good amount of time, but this time it just was a disaster trying to apply it! >:(

Wonderful formula and beautiful color, I'm personally a sucker for teal nail polishes.

I might have forgotten to mention that these nail polishes (and a bunch of other makeup) is on SUPER sale at CVS.  I'm talking about 75% off, definitely worth checking out if there's around you.

First Impression: L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes

I finally started to go through my collection and throw out old products, which for me is so difficult! I have no idea why, I just like to keep things for far too long! But I finally put my big girl pants on and threw out some stuff.  After throwing out my old mascara *pause for moment of silence* I gleefully opened up the L'oreal Voluminous Million lashes.  I actually won this in a giveaway a while ago, but decided to wait to open it until I finished my other mascara.  I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to have too many of the same type of product open at the same time.  Anyway, this mascara claims to separate lashes, be flake and smudge free, as well as free of clumping and of course give your lashes volume (I mean it's in the name!!).

The wand is a plastic applicator, and I have to say I prefer plastic applicators to the more traditional kind (that's the technical term right there).  The applicator did a great job of separating my lashes and I could definitely see they were being lengthened but not really a more fuller look.  Additionally, I was immediately able to tell that if I was to continue adding layers it was going to give me the spidery lash look.  While that may be some people's preference I don't like it at all, I'm scared of spiders as it is and I don't want my eyes too look like their little scary legs O_O.
The formula was definitely very wet and not quick drying so it gave me a chance to go back and tweak my lashes at a slower pace.  However, once it dried it did leave them feeling 'crispy'(side note that is the worst word to describe lashes ever, seriously it gave me shivers, it should only ever be used to describe bacon).  That being said, this formula held a curl wonderfully and the lashes didn't smudge or flake off! WOOHOO That is the worst when I find mascara droppings on my cheek, that is NOT where it belongs! *storms off*

Ahem.  I can't help but think that this mascara might just get better with age, almost like cheese or wine...., for me personally it's never love at first use with a mascara.  I have to "break it in" does that make sense?? It makes sense in my head, which may not be a good sign.

Final thoughts on this mascara was that it was pretty good, not obsessed with it but as I mentioned I never am when I first try a mascara out.  It did almost all that it claimed to do expect for the volume part, but it didn't smudge or flake.  In my opinion it was more of a lengthening mascara, but either way I still like it!  I would have to give this mascara an A-

Mani Monday #1

Mani Monday #1

Seeing as I love nail polish I thought it would be fun to add a nail polish related blog post.  So from now on I'll be posting manicure related post on Mondays, (don't kill me if I'm inconsistent).

This first post is inspired by the 2014 color of the year "Radiant Orchid"; keeping with that theme I choose Nicole by OPI in the color "Back in my Gloria days" from the Modern Family collection.  It's such a beautiful deep purple color with shimmer, it is not chunky glitter but rather very fine shimmer specks.  It took two coats to get it to that level of opacity.

The formula itself was really easy to work with and not streaky at all. Definitely one of my favorite nail polish brands!

I'll update later to see how long this polish last!!

And thanks so much for reading!

Love it or Leave it? Revlon Colorburst matte balm

I was browsing through my CVS and finally was able to find these matte balms by Revlon! I decided to pick one up and give it a try.  I chose the color striking, a beautiful red color.  When I first applied this color the first thing I noticed was how smoothly it glided on my lips and the second thing was the smell.  It seriously smells like thin mints, yes the girl scout cookies! I actually quite like the smell, but it is very strong and does linger for a bit.  The balm itself is very smooth and moisturizing.  My lips have been quite dry thanks to this cold weather but this balm didn't accentuate my dry patches.  It was very moisturizing and never made my lips feel dry during the whole time wearing it.  Also I found that this matte balm lasted a lot longer than the regular formula.  Even after drinking the balm was still pretty pigmented.  Overall, I would definitely say this is a love it product! I really enjoyed it and the other colors seem really fun!

Thanks so much for reading!! :)

A Glimpse Inside my Jolly Vox Box

I was actually really pleased with everything in my box!! If I was to grade this vox box I would give it a A.  The chocolates were delicious but the filling was a little too salty for me, but still enjoyable. I have had other things from the brand, everything else I have had from them is really yummy and I would definitely recommend!  The duck tape was super cute and I actually made use of it by making small bows for my Christmas gifts this year! I think it added something to the gift! The Puffs to go tissue pack actually came in really handy!! I had been getting the sniffles lately thanks to the horrible dry/cold weather, so these tissues could not have come at a more perfect time.  They are so soft and feel really sturdy, they don't irritate my nose or make it red afterword.  AND they are perfect for throwing in your purse or car, great little emergency pack! The two products I was immediately drawn too were the NYC HD shadow trio and the Rimmel London lip lacquer.  The NYC shadows are super velvety and very easy to blend out they are pigmented and don't have any fall out. The colors are perfect everyday colors but I like how they have a pearl finish instead of matte because it draws more attention to your eyes.  I have loved playing around with this trio and definitely see this becoming some of my every day colors! I would definitely say wear a primer to really make this shadows pop! Overall really great product and great value!  The Rimmel London lip lacquer was something I was really excited to see, I had heard about these glosses for a LONG time! They are called Apocalips in the U.K and have been praised by many bloggers.  For good reason these glosses are more like a melted down lipstick.  Super creamy and ultra pigmented.  The color I got is a creamsicle orange color, perfect for the summer.  I'm actually going to be keeping my eyes peeled for this because I think they are brilliant for layering over colors or wearing them alone!! Definitely pick these up if you see them in stores, actually you would be better getting all of the things I mentioned! They are all really great quality and have made my favorites! :)

Naked 3 Palette: Swatches and Quick Review

When I first heard that there was going to be a Naked 3 palette I really wasn't phased. I never had a desire to own any of the other Naked palettes as they weren't really colors I thought were unique.  But then I saw the swatches of this palette and I have to say all the colors looked beautiful and not similar to anything I owned already.  I was sure I wasn't going to buy this though, but I was up late one night and saw that it was in stock on the Sephora website.  I decided to bite the bullet and order it for myself (early Christmas present?).  I have to admit the first time I tried the palette out (I didn't take any pictures because I was so excited!!) I was really disappointed.  The colors were hard to blend and not pigmented at all.  I had used the brush that was included in the palette because all of mine were dirty at the time. The next day I decided to try it out one more time before I returned it this time I used my newly cleaned brushes and was blown away! I'm not sure why the brush included didn't work, it just did not pick up the pigmentation at all nor was it able to blend out the shadows.  But needless to say I am in love with the colors and the quality of the shadows.  Some of the shadows are a bit hard to work with, I'm looking at you Dust.  But with the help of a mixing medium the shadow goes on super pigmented and makes a beautiful inner corner highlighter.  The colors are gorgeous and are super easy to use! I have been loving creating new looks and experimenting with the colors.  My favorites have to be Buzz, Limit, Nooner and yes Dust.
Also I love the packaging: it feels very sturdy and has a nice big mirror.  The only cons I can see this having is that some of the colors have quite a bit of fall out and some do require a mixing medium to have the full effect OH and of course the brush is a big no go for me personally (but great for concealer!).  But to me that isn't a big deal.

  • 12 unique shades that are beautiful
  • Colors are pigmented and easy to blend
  • Great packaging
  • Perfect for traveling
  • Matte and shimmery colors included
  • I can see this working on all skin tones

  • Brush isn't great for applying these colors
  • 1 or 2 of the colors are difficult to work with (must use mixing medium)
  • Some fall out

Do I recommend this? Yes absolutely, the colors are beautiful and I can see this working on all skin tones.

FORGOT TO SWATCH DARKSIDE in this picture :'(((
